Tavo Bárcenas - "Oxígeno" new album release

(Sat.24th) One of the best concerts I've seen this year, Tavo Bárcenas released his new album "Oxígeno" with a big one, celebrating not only his new musical baby, but his life, since he suffered a motorcycle accident last year, I think he appreciates life more than ever and thank God... we will have this Rockstar for a loooong time spreading his music all over the world.
The warm up concert by Cósmica, showed us a very nice beat going on between electronic music and indie rock... really cool!. They are definitely a good reference if you want to hear some fresh music... you know... sometimes it's good to hear music away from the mainstream...
Here a video with Tavo's intro displaying an impressive set of lights and his very strong and unique voice.... enjoy

More photos in my Facebook fanpage (Sign up if you are not a fan yet =D ).... you are gonna love them...

P.s.
Thanks to Danny for the tickets :)

Luis Villacinda @ Taschen

He is one of those human beings with a 6th sense for design, his very distinctive style gave him a display of 2 pages in the very well known Taschen's "Latin American Graphic Design" book released in 2008 showing what describes him the most: Graphic design. Self-taught, he developed a style between the guatemalan streets and an advertising agency at the very early age of 16, modeling his career until he became one of the top graphic designers in Latin America.
I would describe him as a perfect example of what I like to call "nature gift for design".
Luis is not only a graphic designer, he has a very nice sense for writing... if you would like to know what is inside his mind... check his blog at http://luisvillacinda.blogspot.com/ (all written in spanish)

Girls Girls Girls

It is so refreshing everytime there is a new talent coming up to the scene, but gets better when it comes by group, the problem is... sometimes you don't have enough details to appreciate what they do, BUT, this is an exception. Fashion designers Crista Laylle, Anelli Rodriguez & Melissa Calderón presented their collection with a very chic style some time ago... shoes, bags, make up.... here we go!

Quite cool uh!

Leke Pableke, The Aerofustan man

I still remember that drunk crazy funny night at The box lounge when I met Pableke a.k.a Leke García... Dj, designer and upcoming artist. He recently moved to Sao Paulo,Brasil, sharing his art with a new public (hungry for new talents) with a very particular sense of fashion, music and, of course, art which I would describe as... kitschpopart ¿?... even though, I'm not quite sure to classify his work in a specific category, neither I'm an art expert... but he is certainly, an unpredictable human being...
please Leke... Just surprise us!!!

To hear some of his "cumbia asesina" go to http://www.myspace.com/aerofustan you are gonna love it...

A mayan revival

Have you ever wondered... What the mayan music sounded like? Ranferí Aguilar.. a very well know musician inspired his latest work "Hacedor de lluvia" (Rain maker) on mayan instruments and the human body to recreate a unique sound. He took his music beyond the guatemalan frontiers all over the world in countries like Norway, Spain and Germany.
Want to hear some? Close your eyes and feel the sound...

Being a Chapin Man

Everytime I hear the word photography, Daniel Chauche, famous photographer with french heritage but guatemalan from the heart, comes to my mind. Daniel's Collection "Ser un Hombre Chapin" (Being a Chapin man) has guatemalan men from the mayan highlands with a unique indentity on his work telling you a story with nothing more than just a camera and his gift to capture the moment.
Here a sample of this amazing photo collection
...

Want a pic from Chauche?! if you are lucky enough, you might met him at "Parque Central", (@ Guatemala city of course) waiting for someone who wants to get one.

Francis Dávila

Top Dj Francis Dávila knows how to make a raver crowd go craaaaaazy... some of his tracks has been played by very known djs like Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk & Andy Moore for just to name a few. Taking part of the line up in the biggest festivals around the world such as the Ultra Music Festival in Miami or La Paz Parade in Bolivia, Francis is one of those djs that captures your taste for electronic music with a very soft but rude beat making your moves go wild. "Silence" his best hit in radios as No.1, made history on charts competing with artist like Lady gaga on 949 fm. Francis Dávila is for sure one Dj that captures not just your attention but your senses too.

Faith by Manuel de la Cruz

Last September 12th, Manuel de la Cruz, till now, the most succesful guatemalan fashion designer, made his debut with his Spring collection 2010 which took place during the New York Fashion Week. He has been gaining a very good experience working in Milan and New York with giants of the fashion industry like Calvin Klein, Raplh Lauren, Sean John, DKNY, etc.
A celebration of the human body with style, combining classic shapes and a masculine man who is not afraid to be sexy and exquisitely different, as he calls his collection, Manuel has shown a collection with a palette of neutral colors with very defined lines with very cool blazers for men and beautiful garments for women. Here some of my favs...
