Reunirse con los amigos siempre es refrescante, más aun cuando es con personas a las que uno admira y con quienes se comparte un mismo gusto: la moda. Durante un desayuno con algunos de mis amigos más cercanos, platicábamos sobre la evolución que la moda guatemalteca ha tenido en los últimos años y en el papel que cada una de las personas involucradas en este medio hemos tenido.
El otro día mientras miraba el nuevo vídeo con la colección invierno 2013 de GUiSHEM no pude evitar recordar lo mucho que hemos cambiando en los últimos 10 años...

Last time having a brunch with some of my closest friends,
we were talking about how much the guatemalan fashion scene has changed during the last 10-12 years.
The other day, while I was watching GUiSHEM's latest video with his fall winter 2013 collection, I couldn't resist to remember how much we all have changed...
En septiembre 2012, ver en las pàginas de la ediciòn de US Vogue (The september issue) el nombre de Guillermo Jop junto a otros diseñadores de la talla de Versace o Prabal Gurung fue un sentimiento de orgullo. No solo por la calidad de su trabajo y calidad de persona, sino también por su constante lucha y dedicación a formar una marca sólida, original y muy bien posicionada en el mundo.
Recordar sus primeros diseños en los inicios de la década de los 2,000 y ver su trabajo diez años después es ver más allá de su carrera, en mi opinión, es ver también parte de la evolución de la moda guatemalteca.
It was september 2012 and there was it: GUiSHEM's name on the pages of the US Vogue September Issue among the likes of Versace and Prabal Gurung. The feeling of proud was at the order of the day not just because of the quality of his work but because we (guatemalan fashion people) have seen the hard work and determination to create an international brand worn by superstars like Kristen Steward or Kelly Osborn.
To remember his first fashion shows and designs in the early 2,000 and watch GUiSHEM ten years later is definitely to take a look not just to his career but also to the guatemalan fashion scene.
