Winter has just begun in this side of the tropics... that makes me happy!
I'm in the mood for some art, and have decided to look for some inspiration... as it was ment to be, Magda Angélica came to my mind, maybe because I just mentioned her in a french magazine interview that i hope they publish, haha!
anyway, I decided to share with you my good readers some of this inspiration.
I like to think she is a fine gt version of Björk... they both are so expetimental musicians...

El invierno acaba de empezar en este lado de los trópicos... oh si! eso me hace feliz!
Como tengo ganas de arte, decidí buscar inspiración... y como si fuera por pura coincidencia, Magda Angélica me vino a la mente, talvéz porque la acabo de mencionar en una entrevista para una revista francesa... la cual espero que publiquen haha!
De cualquier forma, decidí compartir con ustedes mis buenos lectores un poco de esta inspiración. Me gusta pensar que esta chava es una buena versión chapina de Björk, ambas son artistas muy experimentales...

Oh! just to let you know, Nikte Ha means in mayan language, acuatic flower, the title of the song.

PIKA PIKA PIKA

I remember that day.. back in 2006 (if I'm not wrong) when I heard for the first time Mariano Santolino dj'ing at The Box playing this Eric Prydz's remix Proper Education... Then... after a couple of years... we found out that our birthday was the same day!... 4 years later... he is one of the most influential djs from Guatemala and chosen to take part of The Box's project "Sounds from the underground", a selection of the finest dj's from Guatemala city. The release party: pure beats going from tech house, house, electroclash and synthpop driving all the people craaaaazy.

It was just... another successful night!

Recuérdo aquel día... en el 2006 (si no me equivoco) cuando escuché por primera vez a Mariano Santolino pinchando en The Box el remix Proper education de Eric Prydz... despues de un par de años, nos dimos cuenta que cumplíamos años el mismo día porque estabamos celebrando la misma noche en The Box (para variar...), despues de 4 años, es uno de los dj's más influyentes en la escena electrónica de Guatemala y uno de los escogidos para formar parte del proyecto de The Box Sounds from the underground, una selección de los dj's más reconocidos e influyentes de la Ciudad de Guatemala. La fiesta de lanzamiento: un festín de beats entre tech house, house, electroclash y synthpop que pusieron a toda la gente loooooooca bailando de arriba para abajo!

ICARO 2009 - XII Film Festival -

For 12 years, the central american film festival, Icaro, has been a pioneer in the region bringing and awarding new talents and excellent films in the region. Last Thursday I had the pleasure to attend the closure of the XII edition of the festival. Among filmmakers, actors and actresses, musicians and artists, the festival had a very alternative twist with a very cool presentation of house, dnb & hip hop by Planet fish. Here some pics of the ceremony and the party...

Die Toten Hosen @ Guatemala

Celebrating the 20th. anniversary of the Berlin wall fall, the embassy of Germany.. or should I say... Die Deutsche Botschaft Guatemala , invited the very famous punk rock band Die Toten Hosen to give a concert for it's guatemalan fans... about 1200 citizens lived this amazing concert full of adrenaline and shocking pure german rock: rude, cold and electric...
Drinking a Gallo beer ( our national beer), Campino, vocalist of the band... made his entrance debut with his very distinctive voice.... which lasted 2 hours till the end...
I hope the come back again...

Vj Sine

I'm proud to call this guy not only my friend but a pioneer in the vj'ing stuff... everytime I attend any electronic party, I expect to see his visuals performance... which is grovilicious insane!!! Working with Paul van Dyke, ATB, 4Strings among other top djs... he is definitely international material...

Tavo Bárcenas - "Oxígeno" new album release

(Sat.24th) One of the best concerts I've seen this year, Tavo Bárcenas released his new album "Oxígeno" with a big one, celebrating not only his new musical baby, but his life, since he suffered a motorcycle accident last year, I think he appreciates life more than ever and thank God... we will have this Rockstar for a loooong time spreading his music all over the world.
The warm up concert by Cósmica, showed us a very nice beat going on between electronic music and indie rock... really cool!. They are definitely a good reference if you want to hear some fresh music... you know... sometimes it's good to hear music away from the mainstream...

Leke Pableke, The Aerofustan man

I still remember that drunk crazy funny night at The box lounge when I met Pableke a.k.a Leke García... Dj, designer and upcoming artist. He recently moved to Sao Paulo,Brasil, sharing his art with a new public (hungry for new talents) with a very particular sense of fashion, music and, of course, art which I would describe as... kitschpopart ¿?... even though, I'm not quite sure to classify his work in a specific category, neither I'm an art expert... but he is certainly, an unpredictable human being...

Ranferí Aguilar.. a very well know musician inspired his latest work "Hacedor de lluvia" (Rain maker) on mayan instruments and the human body to recreate a unique sound.
